Gaja Kaalam

Gaja Kaalam

Gaja Kaalam is a majestic wall-mounted console table that draws from the grandeur of Indian temple art and royal palace aesthetics. Carved from solid hardwood and finished with a smooth white stone or marble top, this piece features an elegantly sculpted elephant head and leg — transforming functional design into timeless storytelling. Anchored on the wall, the console is supported by a single gaja-shaped leg (elephant form) in the center, which not only provides balance but becomes the visual and spiritual focus of the room. Ornamental side detailing and turned wood extensions complete the front fascia, exuding the aesthetic of Kerala’s ancestral mansions (tharavadus).

Sacred Parts, Timeless Wholeness

Each component reflects a story of devotion, culture, and skilled hands

Chandra Thalam of Gaja Kaalam

Chandra Thalam

Material: Polished white marble or granite Form: Smooth-edged, crescent or semi-circular Symbolism: The moon is a symbol of peace, coolness (shaanta), and feminine energy (Chandrika Shakti). In temple rituals, moonstone and white surfaces are considered auspicious surfaces for placing lamps or offerings. Functionality: Ideal for placing sacred idols, urulis, diyas, flower arrangements, or as a minimalist tabletop for entryways.

Kavacha Rekha of Gaja Kaalam

Kavacha Rekha

Design: Ornate hand-carved wooden scrollwork Cultural Roots: Inspired by the wooden friezes and kavacha boards found above temple doors and palace ceilings. Scroll motifs often represent divine guardianship, protection from negativity, and ritual boundaries. Artistic Role: Serves as a transitional visual element between the tabletop and vertical supports, balancing lightness and weight.

 Thooner Nira of Gaja Kaalam

Thooner Nira

Design: Short, lathe-turned vertical spindles, symmetrically placed Symbolism: Modeled after pillars of Nalukettu verandahs and mandapam interiors. Symbolize order, rhythm, and resilience — qualities that hold up spiritual and physical space. Functionality: Though partially ornamental, they reflect structural aesthetics from traditional Kerala carpentry.

 Nakshatra Moolam of Gaja Kaalam

Nakshatra Moolam

Design: Curvilinear side arms with foliage or celestial-like motifs Cultural Relevance: Inspired by Nakshatra mandalas, temple ceiling carvings, and decorative end-scrolls seen in royal furniture. Represents cosmic energy, continuity of time, and divine ornamentation. Visual Impact: Adds an artistic flourish to the silhouette — graceful yet bold.
