Padma Vyuh Bench

Padma Vyuh Bench

The Padma Vyuh Bench is a living sculpture — an heirloom seat combining Kerala’s master woodcarving traditions and the cool elegance of handwoven cane. Crafted from seasoned hardwood, every curve, petal, and scroll has been chiselled by hand, creating an arresting play of light and shadow over the ornate floral borders. The backrest draws the eye immediately: three cane panels arranged in symmetrical formation, each radiating from a hand-carved central blossom, evoking the geometry and perfection of the lotus. Above them, a proudly carved crest rail crowns the bench, depicting swirling vines, petals, and buds — frozen in perfect bloom. The seating platform is broad and strong, resting on legs that are both turned and intricately carved, lending stability as well as poise. The front apron carries a continuous vine scroll motif, uniting the design from side to side. The arms curve outward gracefully, a welcome gesture to any guest. Whether placed in a sunlit verandah, a grand hallway, or amidst the treasures of a boutique heritage villa, the Padma Vyuh Bench is more than a seat — it is a centrepiece that speaks of prestige, craftsmanship, and the living heritage of Kerala.
