Sacred Parts, Timeless Wholeness

Each component reflects a story of devotion, culture, and skilled hands

Lotus Glory Crest of Padmaraga Throne

Lotus Glory Crest

A breathtaking flourish, the Lotus Glory Crest surmounts the throne like the halo above deity ico-nography. Deeply carved lotus petals burst with movement, framing the sitter in a blooming aura. This crest isn’t merely decorative: it echoes the ancient sanctum archways of Kerala temples where blooming garlands were offered above entranced idols. The form symbolizes shelter and awakening, its radiance enveloping those seated with the impression of divine embrace. Every petal, scroll, and recess in the carving is honed to cast poetic shadows—transforming daily life into a ritual of beauty and transcendence.

Cloud Canopy of Padmaraga Throne

Cloud Canopy

The Cloud Canopy is a masterfully upholstered cushion whose plushness invites the body into celestial relaxation. Designed to mimic the gentle drift of monsoon clouds and the cushioned opu-lence of palace interiors, this backrest is more than just comfort—it serves as a silent promise of repose after ceremony and celebration. The surface is finished with fabric in lustrous, muted tones, emphasizing tranquility and protecting against daily wear. Its subtle billows cradle the back, supporting a meditative or regal posture. The Cloud Canopy transforms sitting into an act of yield-ing softly into the secure embrace of tradition.

Hamsa Embrace of Padmaraga Throne

Hamsa Embrace

Sweeping outward and gently curling, the Hamsa Embrace armrests are a sculptural homage to the legendary swan—the Hamsa—regarded in Indian tradition as a symbol of discernment, ele-gance, and wisdom. Each armrest starts wide at the base and flutes delicately, allowing one’s arms to rest in perfect contour, regardless of posture. Polished to a silken sheen and graced with floral carvings at the tip, the Hamsa Embrace offers tactile and visual delight, embodying hospitali-ty’s welcome. It transforms the chair into a haven where art and comfort meet seamlessly, adding grace to every seated moment.

Kalasha Garland of Padmaraga Throne

Kalasha Garland

The decorative apron running below the seat forms the Kalasha Garland—a sculpted drapery inspired by floral garlands placed atop ceremonial pots (kalashas) during sacred rituals. Meticu-lously carved with intertwined blossoms and leafy festoons, it frames and elevates the space be-neath the seat. Symbolically, it acts as a threshold of plenty and protection, suggesting every act of sitting is in itself auspicious. The rhythm and relief of the carving catch light in soft, shifting pat-terns through the day, beckoning both the eye and hand toward the chair’s artistic lineage.

Simha Stambha of Padmaraga Throne

Simha Stambha

The Simha Stambha, or lion-pillar legs, anchor the throne with silent authority. Their form—bold, curved, and finely detailed—draws from lion motifs seen at the steps of temples and royal courts, symbolizing protection, vigilance, and sovereign dignity. The powers and virtues of the lion, mythologically considered the “vahana” (mount) of Durga, are translated into sculptural wood. Subtle relief work on the stambha furthers the regal feel. Together, the legs give the throne a foundation that is visually commanding yet gracefully connected to the rest of the piece.

Kairali Arch of Padmaraga Throne

Kairali Arch

Arched elegantly above the cushion, the Kairali Arch references Kerala’s aristocratic verandah portals and heritage home entrances. Carved with motifs of champaka blossoms and creepers, this frame encircles the throne’s back and elevates its profile. The arch is not merely decorative; it furthers the symbolic notion of passage—from the ordinary to the grand, from the now to heritage. The arched frame completes the throne’s silhouette, adding an air of regional identity that cele-brates Kerala’s own refined taste.
