Viśrānti Rocking Chair

Viśrānti Rocking Chair

The Viśrānti Rocking Chair is conceived as a mantra in motion. Its gentle rhythm carries the sitter into a state of samādhi-like repose, where body and spirit sway in unison. Just as the river’s current soothes the stones it passes, the chair’s arcs soften the burdens of the day. Rocking has always been more than movement — it is a lullaby for the jīva (living being), an ancestral rhythm that recalls a mother’s embrace and the earth’s own cycles. In this seat, the world slows down; time becomes fluid. Whether for reading, meditating, or surrendering to silence, the chair transforms ordinary rest into viśrānti — sacred renewal. It is not a chair but a swinging shrine of calmness, merging craftsmanship with philosophy. Each curve, each joint, each polished surface is a verse in the poetry of peace. The chair is handcrafted from rosewood or teak, renowned in Indian tradition for strength, longevity, and sacred resonance. Its frame is polished to a warm sheen, preserving the natural veṇī (grain) of the wood, symbolizing the flow of life itself. The sukha-āsana (seat of comfort) is wide and embracing, balancing firmness with softness. The tāla-vṛtta (rocking arcs) are shaped with precision so the motion is smooth and balanced, like a musician striking perfect rhythm. The sthiti-daṇḍa (backrest spine) supports posture while inviting relaxation, bridging yogic steadiness with comfort. Brass or copper inlays shimmer subtly, representing tejas (inner radiance) — turning every touch, every sway, into a ritual of refinement. In form and essence, the Viśrānti Rocking Chair is not just a utility object, but a vāstu-pīṭha (living seat of harmony), blending classical Indian sensibility with timeless design.

Sacred Parts, Timeless Wholeness

Each component reflects a story of devotion, culture, and skilled hands

Tala Vrtta Rockers of Viśrānti Rocking Chair

Tala Vrtta Rockers

The base curves embody the cycle of tāla (beat) in Indian music — continuous, harmonious, unbroken. Just as time flows in rhythmic circles, the arcs carry the sitter into timeless balance, echoing the cosmic dance of Nāṭarāja.

Sukhasana Throne of Viśrānti Rocking Chair

Sukhasana Throne

This is the throne of everyday repose. In yoga, sukha-āsana is both a posture of meditation and a state of inner ease. The seat honors that dual meaning, becoming a physical and spiritual foundation where relaxation turns into mindfulness.

Sthithi Backrest of Viśrānti Rocking Chair

Sthithi Backrest

The vertical back recalls the yogi’s spine — the channel of suṣumṇā-nāḍī. Firm yet gentle, it allows the body to rest while reminding the mind to remain centered. It is the danda (staff) of stillness, offering discipline within comfort.

Shanthi Embrace Armrests of Viśrānti Rocking Chair

Shanthi Embrace Armrests

The armrests curve outward like open arms, symbolizing an embrace of peace. They cradle the sitter in śānti (tranquility), reflecting the motherly gesture of sheltering and nurturing. Every rest of the arm becomes an āliṅgana — a subtle hug of calm.
