Chakravalli

Chakravalli

In the grand halls of South Indian palaces and the sunlit verandahs of ancestral homes, the round table has always been a symbol of unity and welcome. It is where elders shared wisdom, children played, and guests were honored with stories and feasts. Chakravalli is born from this legacy—a tribute to the circles of life, tradition, and togetherness. Inspired by the ancient practice of gathering in a circle, Chakravalli’s design erases hierarchy and invites every voice to the center. The table’s smooth, polished top is a canvas for daily rituals—morning coffee, evening conversations, or festive celebrations. Its delicately carved apron, reminiscent of temple borders and the intricate latticework of Chettinad mansions, allows light to dance along the edge, casting playful shadows and adding a sense of airiness. The table stands on four elegantly turned legs, each echoing the pillars of old courtyards, while the cross-braced stretcher below is not just a feat of engineering but a symbol of connection—holding the table, and the people around it, in perfect harmony. At the very center, a small mandala platform offers a sacred space for a diya, a flower, or a cherished heirloom, grounding the table in tradition and beauty. Chakravalli is not just a table; it is a living heirloom, a silent witness to the stories, laughter, and bonds that make a house a home. Place it in your dining room, foyer, or as a centerpiece in a grand salon, and let it become the heart of your gatherings for generations to come.

Sacred Parts, Timeless Wholeness

Each component reflects a story of devotion, culture, and skilled hands

Chakra Top of Chakravalli

Chakra Top

The Chakra Top is the soul of Chakravalli—a perfectly round, expansive surface crafted from richly grained hardwood. Its seamless finish invites touch and admiration, while the circular form encourages inclusivity and conversation. The top is designed to be both a stage for daily rituals and a canvas for celebration, reflecting the warmth and hospitality of Indian homes.

Valli Apron of Chakravalli

Valli Apron

Encircling the tabletop is the Valli Apron, a delicately hand-carved border inspired by the ornamental vines and latticework found in South Indian temples and heritage mansions. This openwork detail is not just decorative; it allows light to filter through, creating a play of shadow and brilliance that changes with the time of day. The Valli Apron is a nod to the artistry of traditional woodworkers, adding a sense of lightness and grace to the table’s robust form.

Stambha Legs of Chakravalli

Stambha Legs

The Stambha Legs are a tribute to the architectural pillars that support the great halls of India’s palaces and temples. Each leg is meticulously turned and finished by hand, with subtle curves and details that evoke both strength and elegance. The legs provide unwavering support, while their sculptural form adds a regal presence to the table, making it a true centerpiece in any room.

Setu Stretcher of Chakravalli

Setu Stretcher

Connecting the legs is the Setu Stretcher, a cross-braced support that echoes the design of the apron above. “Setu” means bridge, and this element is both functional and symbolic—ensuring the table’s stability while representing the connections between people, generations, and traditions. The stretcher is adorned with matching openwork, uniting the table’s design from top to base.

Mandala Platform of Chakravalli

Mandala Platform

At the heart of the stretcher lies the Mandala Platform—a small, raised square that serves as a focal point for the table’s energy. Inspired by the sacred mandalas used in Indian rituals, this platform is perfect for placing a diya, a flower arrangement, or a treasured keepsake. It grounds the table in tradition, offering a quiet moment of reflection amidst the bustle of daily life.
